| [Taken from www.uefa.com -> http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/kind=2/newsid=555694.html]Crvena Zvezda have been trying to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League for years now, and still haven't got further than the third qualification round. European ambitions A second successive domestic double in 2006/07 was proof that the Belgrade side are the team to beat in Serbia, and has only increased the clamour over the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign. Crvena Zvezda will start the competition in the second qualifying round, but fans would love to see them reach the group stage for the first time. Bitter realism Club president Stojković said: "I am a realistic man. Dreams are one thing - what we can actually do is something else. I do not want to put pressure on the team. If we can make it, that would be great but a place in the UEFA Cup group stage would also be welcome. In the coming days and weeks, we must work, find new players and build a stronger side. We will see what they can achieve." | |
